MLM Business Opportunities

Many people I know, frown at the idea of getting involved with an mlm company. Based upon what they hear and read, they may not fully understand the negatives and the positives associated with this type of business. In this article I will try to give you a run down on this business type along with negatives and positives I have personally found.

What is MLM? MLM stands for Multi Level Marketing. Marketing means to "move" a product or service from the manufacturer or provider to the consumer. Multi Level refers to the system of compensation provided to the persons who are causing the product to move or the service that is provided. "Multi" means more than one, and "Level" means generation.

Multi Level Marketing is one of the fastest growing businesses today. It is not an industry, but simply a marketing method for moving product from point A to point B. The concept started in the 80's, picked up some negative press in the early 90's, and bounced back in the 21st century as the "wave of the future".

Depending on how your MLM program is set up, you are financially compensated for every person and the product they "move". The most obvious difference between an MLM and a Pyramid, is that anyone can come into a network marketing program and end up on the top. In a pyramid scheme, however, the top remains the top, and very few people actually make any money before it falls apart.

The products and services currently sold via Multi Level Marketing companies continue to increase daily. Corporations are now realizing that the money they spend on advertising their products and attempting to identify their markets are better spent on the consumers themselves. Who do you prefer to purchase your shampoo and vitamins from? Your best friend, or the big chain down the street that doesn't pay attention to you when you walk through the door? My point exactly!

Now lets view some of the positives associated with an MLM business:

*Comfort of working in your own home
*Being your own boss
*Amazing tax deductions
*Ability to make a substantial income
*Choice of working full or part time
*Business training

And some of the negatives associated with an MLM business:

*Recruiting people into your "downline"
*Paying money to join
*Attending meetings/seminars at a hotel or home
*Lugging around product(s)
(Please note: NOT ALL MLM companies have these negatives)

I urge you to investigate and research ANY and ALL information before joining a specific mlm company. This type of business can be very successful if you follow the steps given by your mentor(s).
